Dunbar Performing Arts Project Presents Melodrama

dblogohomeWD_1.gifWill General Robert Woeful and his lovely wife Wilma be able to pay the mortgage? Will Wiley Sneed and his gang of two successfully carry out their nefarious plot? Will handsome Horace Heartfelt win the hand of the lovely Polly Pleasant?

And what's with the chicken?

These questions and many more will be answered as Dunbar School proudly presents Wrongful Doings At Woeful Ranch (or I hate dat Wascal). Written by local thespian and vintner Squire Fridell and directed by Sonoma Treasure Kate Kennedy, this romantic drama of the Old West will be presented on

Friday, May 25, Saturday, May 26,
and Sunday, May 27, at 6:00 p.m.

The show is the fifteenth installment in a Dunbar tradition, in which the fifth-grade class stages a full-length theatrical production. This year's play features everything melodrama fans have come to expect: extravagant theatricality, an unrealistic plot, exaggerated dialogue, hyperbolized characterization, and slapstick physicality.

The play will take place under the oaks on Dunbar School's Haver Outdoor Stage at 11700 Dunbar Road in Glen Ellen. Tickets are available at the door or in advance, and cost $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and younger. . Doors open one hour before show-time, rain or shine. Refreshments are offered, and patrons are invited to bring a blanket and picnic dinner to enjoy during the show.

For more information or tickets, contact the school at 935-6070, or visit the school office at 11700 Dunbar Road, Glen Ellen. Tickets for the show, and a fabulous raffle with many exciting prizes including a queen sized hand-made quilt from Yvonne Soto-Pomeroy, will also be sold in front of the Glen Ellen Village Market the next few weekends, and the Mother's Day Pancake Breakfast at the Firehouse and the Spring Fling at Dunbar School on May 17th.
